Dr. Marissa's Top 5 Natural Travel Formulas

Travel is GLORIOUS, but it can also be stressful, exhausting, and can wreak havoc on your health. It can often take days for your body to recover- especially when traveling to different time zones.

Fortunately, there are several natural remedies that can minimize the impact travel has on your body, mind, and soul.

Here are a few of my favorite travel “formulas”:

  1. Digestive Enzymes
These can be a lifesaver when you overindulge in rich food and wine, or if you are gluten or casein sensitive and accidentally consume some. The enzymes work like magic to break down food and get it moving down the track.

  2. Arnica Montana
I carry a tube of homeopathic arnica pellets and gel in my purse wherever I go. These internal and external formulas are great for bruises, bumps, sprains, and shock after any sort of accident. Use this one immediately following any misadventure!

  3. Bach Rescue Remedy
These calming flower essence drops help to soothe frazzled nerves and is safe to administer to children and pets while traveling. They can be used during frightful situations (like driving in a foreign country!) or after any sort of traumatic experience.

  4. Melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone released by your pineal gland that plays a central role in regulating the body's sleep/wake cycle. A small dose of melatonin can help get your body acclimated to changing time zones and knock you out for that overnight flight!

  5. Grapefruit Seed Extract
This antimicrobial formula is good for treating any type of infection- think of it as an anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal. At the first sign of a sore throat or cold, take several drops in a glass of water, and use throughout the day. It can also be used as a throat gargle, to wash fruits and veggies, and treats nail infections.

I hope these tips help to prepare you for healthy and vibrant travel in the near future.
